Ali is a guidance counselor at New York Harbor School. She was born and raised in Buffalo, New York, but attended the University of Michigan. She served with Teach For America in the Rio Grande Valley, and has worked with young people in various capacities all her adult life. She's also a long time knitter, and began the Bushwick Knitting Craze three years ago when she first brought her knitting to work. She's been patiently teaching kids (and adults, like Melissa) to knit ever since.

Melissa grew up in Detroit, graduated from U of M, and served with Teach For America in the South Bronx. She knits on the train, at home, and anywhere she can. She also enjoys printmaking and wants to get into bookmaking.
